Welcome to GenPBR ("we," "our," or "us"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our PBR texture generation service at genpbr.com (the "Service") operated by North Star Global LLC.
By accessing or using our Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of these terms, then you may not access the Service.
Important Notice
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and GenPBR. Please read them carefully and keep a copy for your records.
GenPBR 2.5 Update
GenPBR 2.5 introduces major updates including a complete UI/UX overhaul, core stability fixes, new hybrid credit + subscription pricing, updated licensing (effective December 1st, 2025), and limited lifetime packages. Existing paid subscribers are fully grandfathered — you keep your current price and full commercial rights. See the licensing sections below for details.
By using our Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use our Service. If you are under 18, you must have parental consent.
Account Responsibility
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.
Updates to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
GenPBR is a web-based service that generates physically based rendering (PBR) textures from base images. Our service includes:
- •Normal map generation for surface detail
- •Metallic map generation for material properties
- •Roughness map generation for surface irregularities
- •Ambient occlusion map generation for realistic shadowing
- •3D WebGL viewer for material preview
- •Client-side processing for privacy and security
Service Availability
We strive to maintain 99.9% uptime but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time.
Account Creation
You may create an account to access premium features. You must provide accurate and complete information during registration.
Account Security
- • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account
- • You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use
- • We are not liable for losses due to unauthorized account access
- • You may not share your account credentials with others
Account Sharing Prohibited
Your account is for your personal use only. Account sharing is strictly prohibited:
- • You may not share your account login credentials with anyone else
- • You may not allow others to access your account or use your subscription
- • Each individual must create their own account to use the Service
- • Team accounts are intended for legitimate team collaboration within your organization
Consequences of Account Sharing:
Violation of this policy may result in immediate account suspension or termination without refund. We reserve the right to monitor account usage patterns to detect and prevent account sharing.
Team Accounts
Team accounts allow legitimate team collaboration within a single organization or project:
- • Team owners can invite team members to their account
- • Team members share access to team resources and subscriptions
- • Team owners are responsible for all team member activities
- • Team members must be part of the same organization, company, or legitimate collaborative project
- • Team accounts are not to be used to circumvent individual account restrictions or share access with unrelated parties
Legitimate Team Use:
Team accounts are designed for genuine organizational collaboration. Using team features to share accounts with unrelated individuals, friends, or family members is prohibited and may result in account termination.
Account Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or share accounts in violation of this policy.

Free Credits
Use: Personal projects, portfolios, learning
Cannot: Use commercially, sell, or use in client work
Attribution: Required when sharing publicly
Pro Credits
Use: Everything — commercial, client work, selling
Rights: Full commercial rights, forever
Attribution: Not required
Important Protection & Timeline
Current State (Until December 1st, 2025): GenPBR was released with no output licensing restrictions, so all users (including free users) currently have full commercial rights on all textures generated.
Protection: All textures generated before December 1st, 2025 retain full personal and commercial usage rights, regardless of whether they were generated with Free or Pro Credits. Your existing work is protected.
Simple Rule
Free Credits = Personal use only (with attribution when shared)
Pro Credits = Commercial use allowed (no attribution needed)
You agree to use our Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You may not:
Prohibited Activities
- • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- • Infringe on intellectual property rights
- • Upload malicious software or viruses
- • Attempt to gain unauthorized access
- • Interfere with service operations
- • Use automated tools to access the service
- • Share, sell, or transfer your account or subscription to others
- • Use team features to circumvent account sharing restrictions
Content Restrictions
- • No illegal or harmful content
- • No copyrighted material without permission
- • No offensive or inappropriate content
- • No content that violates others' rights
- • No spam or unsolicited communications
- • No content that promotes violence
Enforcement
We reserve the right to investigate and take appropriate action against users who violate these terms, including account suspension or termination.
Free Credits — Personal & Non-Commercial Use
Important Timeline:
Until December 1st, 2025: All users (including free users) have full commercial rights because GenPBR was released with no output licensing restrictions.
Starting December 1st, 2025: Free Credits become non-commercial only. All textures generated before this date retain their current rights.
Starting December 1st, 2025, textures generated using Free Credits will be licensed for personal and non-commercial use only. This includes:
- ✓Personal projects, portfolios, and learning
- ✓School work and educational purposes
- ✓Sharing online with proper attribution
Not Allowed:
- • Commercial use, client work, or paid projects
- • Selling textures or products containing these textures
- • Use in commercial games, software, or applications

"Textures generated with GenPBR — genpbr.com"
Pro Credits — Full Commercial Rights
Textures generated using Pro Credits include full commercial usage rights with no restrictions:
- ✓Full commercial use in any project
- ✓Client work and professional projects
- ✓Commercial games, software, and applications
- ✓Selling textures or products containing these textures
- ✓No attribution required
- ✓Rights are perpetual and non-revocable
Important Protection:
All textures generated prior to December 1st, 2025 retain full personal and commercial usage rights, regardless of credit type used. Your existing work is protected.
Current State (Until Dec 1, 2025):
GenPBR was released with no output licensing restrictions, so all users (including free users) currently have full commercial rights on all textures generated.
Lifetime Package — Permanent Commercial Rights
Lifetime package holders receive permanent access with full commercial rights for all textures generated, including those created with included monthly Pro Credits.

- ✓Monthly Pro Credits included forever
- ✓Discounted credit packs (subscriber savings)
- ✓No recurring subscription fees
- ✓Limited to 30 packages — never sold again after this release
Account Sharing Prohibited:
Lifetime packages are non-transferable and may not be shared. Each lifetime package is tied to a single account and team. Sharing lifetime access violates these Terms and may result in account termination without refund.
Billing Cycles
Subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis according to your selected plan (monthly or annual):
- • Monthly subscriptions are billed on the same day each month
- • Annual subscriptions are billed on the anniversary of your subscription start date
- • Billing occurs automatically at the beginning of each billing cycle
- • You will receive an email receipt for each successful payment
Automatic Renewal
All subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled before the end of the current billing period:
- • Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing period
- • We will charge your payment method on file for the renewal
- • You will receive email notifications before renewal (typically 3-7 days in advance)
- • Renewal charges occur at the same price as your current plan, unless you've been notified of a price change
Payment Method Updates
It is your responsibility to keep your payment method information current:
- • Update expired or invalid payment methods through your account dashboard
- • Failed payments may result in service suspension
- • We will attempt to retry failed payments according to our payment processor's policies
- • You will be notified of payment failures via email
Cancellation and Refunds
- • You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account dashboard
- • Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period
- • You will retain access to all features until the end of your paid period
- • No refunds for partial billing periods or unused time
- • Refunds may be provided at our discretion for technical issues or billing errors
Lifetime Package Refund Policy
Lifetime Packages are a limited early-supporter option used to fund GenPBR's continued development. Because access and credits are granted immediately, these purchases are non-refundable.
Price Changes
We reserve the right to modify subscription prices with 30 days' advance notice. Existing subscribers will be notified via email before price changes take effect. Price changes will apply to renewals after the notice period.
API Access
Access to the GenPBR API requires an active API key and valid subscription. API access is subject to the following terms:
- • API keys are unique to your account and must be kept secure
- • You are responsible for all API usage associated with your API key
- • API keys may not be shared, sold, or transferred to third parties
- • API keys may not be used to provide texture generation services to others (reselling prohibited)
- • We reserve the right to revoke API keys for violations of these terms
Account Sharing & API Key Protection:
Sharing API keys or using them to provide services to others violates these Terms. Each API key is tied to a single account and may not be shared or used by multiple parties. Violations may result in immediate API key revocation and account termination.
Rate Limits and Quotas
- • API usage is subject to rate limits based on your subscription tier
- • Rate limits are designed to ensure fair usage and service stability
- • Exceeding rate limits may result in temporary API access restrictions
- • Quota limits apply to the number of API calls per billing period
- • Unused quota does not roll over to the next billing period
API Usage Restrictions
- • You may not use the API to resell texture generation services
- • Automated scraping or bulk data collection is prohibited
- • You may not attempt to reverse engineer or decompile the API
- • API responses and generated content are subject to the same licensing terms as web-based generation
API Data and Content
- • All content generated via API follows the same licensing terms as web-based generation
- • You are responsible for ensuring uploaded content via API complies with our Acceptable Use Policy
- • We may monitor API usage for security and abuse prevention
- • API usage data may be logged for service improvement and troubleshooting
API Availability
While we strive for high API availability, we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. API endpoints may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or technical issues. We are not liable for losses resulting from API unavailability.
Enterprise Plans
Enterprise plans are available for organizations requiring higher usage limits, dedicated support, and custom terms:

- • Higher API rate limits and quotas
- • Dedicated account management and support
- • Custom licensing agreements available
- • Volume discounts for large organizations
Enterprise Licensing
- • Enterprise plans include full commercial rights for all generated content
- • Team-wide usage rights for all employees and contractors
- • Extended usage rights may be negotiated in custom agreements
- • Enterprise customers may request custom attribution requirements

When Attribution is Required
Attribution is required for textures generated using Free Credits:
- • When sharing textures online (social media, forums, portfolios)
- • In project documentation or credits
- • When distributing projects containing Free Credit textures
- • In any public-facing content using Free Credit textures
Attribution Format
Required attribution must include the following text:
"Textures generated with GenPBR — genpbr.com"
You may include a link to genpbr.com if desired, but it is not required.
Attribution Placement
- • In project credits or documentation
- • In image descriptions or metadata when sharing
- • In README files for open-source projects
- • In game credits or software about pages
- • Anywhere that is reasonably visible to users of your content
When Attribution is NOT Required
- • Textures generated using Pro Credits require no attribution
- • Textures generated using Lifetime Package credits require no attribution
- • Enterprise customers may have custom attribution requirements per their agreement
- • Internal use of Free Credit textures (not shared publicly) does not require attribution
Attribution Enforcement
Failure to provide required attribution for Free Credit textures may result in a request to add proper attribution. Repeated violations may result in account restrictions or termination.
Your Content
You retain ownership of all content you upload to our Service. By using our Service, you grant us a limited license to process your content for the purpose of providing our services.
Generated Content
You own the rights to all PBR textures generated from your uploaded content, subject to the licensing terms based on the credit type used (Free Credits vs. Pro Credits) as outlined in the "Licensing Per Credit Type" section above.
Our Intellectual Property
The Service, including its algorithms, software, and documentation, is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our proprietary technology.
Copyright Compliance
You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to use any content you upload. We respect intellectual property rights and will respond to valid DMCA takedown notices.
Your privacy is important to us. Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
Client-Side Processing
All texture processing happens locally in your browser. Your uploaded images and generated textures never leave your device, ensuring maximum privacy.
Data Collection
We collect only the information necessary to provide our services, including account information, usage analytics, and payment data processed through Stripe.
Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information and ensure secure data transmission.
Service Availability
We strive to maintain high service availability but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or technical issues.
Service Modifications
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of our Service at any time. We will provide reasonable notice of significant changes when possible.
Maintenance Windows
Scheduled maintenance will be performed during off-peak hours when possible. We will notify users of planned maintenance in advance.
Force Majeure
We are not liable for service interruptions caused by circumstances beyond our control, including natural disasters, cyber attacks, or third-party service failures.
Service Disclaimer
Our Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the Service will be error-free or uninterrupted.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.
Maximum Liability
Our total liability to you for any claims related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Generated Content Quality
While we strive for high-quality results, we cannot guarantee that generated PBR textures will meet your specific requirements or expectations.
Termination by You
You may terminate your account at any time by canceling your subscription or contacting us. Your access will continue until the end of your billing period.
Termination by Us
We may terminate or suspend your account immediately if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or for other legitimate business reasons.
Effect of Termination
- • Your right to use the Service will cease immediately
- • You will not be charged for future billing periods
- • Your account data may be deleted after a reasonable period
- • Generated content remains your property
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Dispute Resolution
Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service will be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association.
Class Action Waiver
You agree to resolve disputes individually and waive the right to participate in class action lawsuits or class-wide arbitration.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
